Cut mozzarella into 1/2-inch pieces. Place pieces in a medium bowl. In a small bowl, combine oil, vinegar, snipped basil and black pepper. Pour over cheese; toss gently until cheese is well-coated. Cover and chill for 1 hour.
If desired, serve with tomato, basil strips and bread slices.
