Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease 2 baking sheets. Melt butter and 1/2 cup chocolate pieces in a large saucepan over low heat.Remove from heat. Stir in coffee crystals; cool 5 minutes. Stir in sugars, eggs and vanilla.
Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt in a medium bowl. Stirinto coffee mixture. Stir in the remaining 1 cup chocolate pieces. Drop dough by rounded tablespoons onto prepared pans.
Bake for 10 minutes. Let cool 1 minute before removing from pan.
