In a blender combine half of the tomatoes, the broth, and vegetable juice. Cover and blend until smooth. Transfer mixture to a storage container. Stir in the remaining tomatoes and 2 tablespoons snipped fresh or 1 teaspoon dried basil.
Cover and chill for 2 to 8 hours. If desired, top each serving with shrimp and additional snipped fresh basil.
