Keep cool with our take on an icy Persian treat: Sharbat. Start by infusing water with sugar, honey, McCormick® Cardamom and Cinnamon sticks and hibiscus flowers. Once strained and cooled, this fragrant syrup is combined with club soda over ice for a fizzy, sweet and tart drink that’s as refreshing as it is beautiful.
Ingredients 3 Servings
- 1 cup water
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup honey
- 9 McCormick Gourmet™ All Natural Whole Cardamom Pods, cracked
McCormick Gourmet™ Organic Saigon Cinnamon Sticks, broken in half
- cinnamon sticks
- 1/2 cup dry hibiscus flowers
cold seltzer water
- club soda
- 1 Place 1 cup water, sugar, honey, cardamom pods and cinnamon sticks in a small saucepan. Bring mixture to boil, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to low. Stir in hibiscus flowers; simmer 20 minutes. Remove from heat. Allow mixture to cool slightly. Strain through a fine mesh sieve to remove cardamom pods, cinnamon sticks and flowers. Cool completely or refrigerate until ready to serve.
- 2 Mix syrup with cold seltzer. Serve over ice in beverage glasses. Garnish with cinnamon stick, if desired.
