Beat butter in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed 30 seconds or until softened. Add granulated sugar and vanilla; beat until light and fluffy, scraping down sides of bowl frequently. Beat in eggs, 1 at a time. Alternately beat in flour mixture and milk on medium-low speed just until mixed. Pour into greased and floured 13x9-inch baking pan.
Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely on wire rack.
For the Frosting, beat butter and vanilla in large bowl until light and fluffy. Gradually add confectioners' sugar, beating well after each addition and scraping sides and bottom of bowl frequently. Add milk; beat until light and fluffy. Frost top of cake with frosting.
If you are looking for a simple and quick American birthday cake recipe... this is it. To make sure the cake is moist enough, add milk until the batter falls off the wisk slowly in large drops. Eggs can have different sizes so you will need to adjust the milk amount to make up for it.

This cake is a little dry because white cakes tend to be dry. However, I like this cake. My husband made it for me because he knows I love white cakes. If you don't ordinarily eat white cake you may think this cake recipe is too dry. Otherwise, it is fine.

If you follow the recipe as stated on this website it will be very dry you have to alter this recipe in order to have a more moist cake, instead of 3/4 cup of milk use 1 cup of buttermilk and 2 tablespoon s of sourcrea

The cake was a little dry. The frosting was good. My kids said the frosting tasted like vanilla ice cream. Not sure if I would make the cake again unless someone has any suggestions on how to make the cake more moist. I would use the frosting again.

it was very dry so I added more milk and vanilla but other wise I like it.

Dry, dry, dry! You can't go wrong with buttercream frosting but the cake itself, is not worth the effort. Would've only done 1 star but the family seemed to like it ok.

This is so dry! I would be better off frosting my cornbread.
