Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons McCormick® Ground Ginger
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon McCormick® Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup applesauce
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

INSTRUCTIONS

  • 1 Preheat oven to 350°F. Mix flour, ginger, baking powder, cinnamon and salt in medium bowl. Set aside.
  • 2 Beat butter, molasses and brown sugar in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended and smooth. Add egg and applesauce; mix well. Add flour mixture alternately with milk, beating on low speed after each addition.
  • 3 Spoon batter into 15 paper-lined muffin cups, filling each cup 3/4 full. Sprinkle with granulated sugar.
  • 4 Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted into muffin comes out clean. Serve warm.
