  • 1 quart distilled water
  • 4 each meyer lemon, juice and peel
  • 2 cups gold beets, peeled, grated
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • 10 each juniper berries, crushed
  • 1 teaspoon McCormick Culinary® Ground Decorticated Cardamom
  • 1/2 teaspoon himalayan pink sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon saffron

Procedure

  1. In a pot over medium-high heat combine water, meyer lemon juice and peels, beets, vinegar, honey, juniper berries, cardamom, salt, and saffron. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
  2. Remove from heat and cool completely. Sour can be strained at this point or held with fruit and strained for service. Hold refrigerated until needed.

Chef's Tip: Mix sipping sour with prosecco, or try lemon lime soda for a mocktail version.
