INSTRUCTIONS

  • 1 Slice baguette lengthwise into two open face halves, then hollow out center.
  • 2 Season onions and peppers with Coarse Black Pepper and Flake Salt.
  • 3 Grill onions and peppers until slightly charred and softened—try a grill basket for easy grilling.
  • 4 Layer grilled peppers and onions onto center of baguette halves. Sprinkle basil over top. Then top with mozzarella cheese. Finish it off by covering both sides with the ground sausage, pressing to seal each baguette piece so the filling doesn’t fall out.
  • 5 Sprinkle additional Coarse Black Pepper and Flake Salt evenly over sausage.
  • 6 Grill, sausage-side down, over medium heat about 15 minutes, or until cooked through (internal temp of sausage should reach 165°F).
  • 7 Slice sausage bread into 2-inch pieces and serve with marinara sauce for dipping.

Tip: Try it with ground beef instead of pork.
