INSTRUCTIONS

  • 1 Whisk eggs, buttermilk, butter and vanilla in large bowl. Whisk flour, baking powder, sugar, cinnamon and salt in separate small bowl. Stir flour mixture into egg mixture, just until well blended. Let stand 5 minutes.

Tip: If you don’t have buttermilk on hand, you can make your own! Whisk 4 teaspoons fresh lemon juice or white vinegar into 1 1/4 cups cold milk; let stand 10 minutes before using.
  • 2 Spray waffle iron with no stick cooking spray. Heat according to manufacturer’s instructions. Pour about 1/2 cup batter into waffle iron, spreading evenly. Close lid and cook until golden brown and crispy, about 4 to 6 minutes. Repeat with remaining batter, spraying with no stick spray between each waffle.

Tip: To keep waffles warm until breakfast is ready, place hot prepared waffles in single layer on wire rack set on large baking pan. Place pan in preheated 200°F oven for up to 45 minutes.
  • 3 Serve waffles topped with butter, maple syrup, fresh berries, confectioners’ sugar or whipped cream, if desired.

    Test Kitchen Tips:
    • For a holiday twist, use a round waffle iron. Cut each waffle into 4 triangles and layer, pointed end up, on a serving plate. Sprinkle with your favorite holiday toppings, like red, green and gold sprinkles, berries, whipped cream, or a dusting of confectioners’ sugar.
    • For another fun festive twist, use your favorite holiday shaped cookie cutters to cut waffles into desired shapes before serving.
    • Thread cut-out waffles onto skewers or wooden craft sticks. Dip in your favorite flavor canned frosting—melt frosting in a heat-safe bowl in the microwave 30 seconds—then decorate with your favorite festive toppings.
