Yep, believe it or not, it’s almost Turkey Day again. Whether you’re already planned and prepared for Thanksgiving or haven’t a clue yet what you’ll be serving, here’s a faster and more flavorful alternative to plain turkey.
First, you can by giving it a barbecue twist by using some of Stubb’s Legendary Bar-B-Q’s array of products. I suggest using one of their rubs, marinades, or new Anytime Sauces, or a combination of two. For a smokier flavor, I used the Bar-B-Q Spice Rub and then basted the turkey with Texas Steakhouse Marinade. The paprika in the rubs adds a nice smokiness, while the garlic, onion, chilies and spices in the marinade impart a zesty, savory flavor that’s more spiced than spicy.
Next, to save time while cooking on the big day, roasting your bird in parts rather than whole takes much less time in the oven. You can buy the whole bone-in breast (and halves), legs, thighs and wings separately in the poultry section of the grocery store, so just decide what parts you’d like and how many servings you need. For two to four guests with leftovers, buy half a bone-in breast and maybe a leg or thigh or two if someone wants dark meat. For six to eight, purchase a whole breast and four legs or thighs, or if you’d like more white meat, get a whole bone-in breast. Basically, buy whatever you and your guests like and according to how much leftover turkey you’d like. Roasting time should take about an hour to an hour and a half, depending on how many parts you’re cooking.
