Preheat oven to 350°F. Brown beef and onion in large skillet on medium-high heat; drain. Add tomato sauce, beans, corn and green chiles; mix well. Stir in all of the seasonings. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to low; simmer 5 minutes.
Spread 1/2 cup of the beef mixture on bottom of 13x9x2-inch baking dish sprayed with no stick cooking spray. Top with 3 of the tortillas, overlapping as needed. Layer with 1/2 of the remaining beef mixture and 1/2 of the cheese. Repeat with remaining tortillas, beef mixture and cheese.
Bake 15 minutes or until heated through. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
I love this recipe! It's very forgiving. I've used ground beef and deer and have a meat-free version with extra beans in the oven. I've substituted rotel and a can of tomato paste for the chilies and one can of tomato sauce when I was out chilies. I've also tried corn tortillas, which my husband preferred, but I prefer the flour. It's great no matter what you do, and it's even better the next day!

Really good quick & easy. i made it the night before and heated it the next day for dinner My family loved it. I thought the texture of the flour tortillas was a bit slimy ( maybe because it sat in the frig overnight?). The 2nd time I made it, I used corn tortillas and it was a lot better.

My family loved this dish. I made several revisions as I didn't have some of the ingredients. I didn't have ground beef or turkey, so I used shredded chicken breast and about two cups of medium salsa instead of tomato sauce. I didn't use chili powder as the salsa was hot enough for us. I layered tortillas down first then meat mixture, tons of cheese and another layer of tortillas. Then finished off the meat with olives and tons more cheese. It was fantastic!!! Will make again and again and again..........

I use chicken instead of beef when I make mine. I also serve it with sour cream and nacho chips. Best leftover dish and so quick and easy to make! Family favorite!

This dish was the most convenient in the variety 6 pack spices before they were discontinued. However, now that I am forced to make it from scratch. Its well worth the sacrifice. Its one of my "family's favorite dish" & that says a lot....coming from a latin family. Who usually wont eat anything thats not made from scratch. PLEASE, PLEASE BRING BACK THE 6pack spice pack. This meal took me an xtra 20mins to assemble this time around.

I love this and so does my 12 year old who is very picky. I always add diced tomatoes either fresh or.canned. sometimes. I add refried beans over the tortillaswhich just makes it even better.

I too have made this recipe for years, as my family loves it! I also have omitted the tortillas, baked as directed and used the finished casserole spooned over chips for delicious nachos.

My 18 and 20 year old kids love this recipe-- I make it w whole wheat tortillas and chopped jalapeños instead of chilis and serve w guacamole. I can make it in 20 min, serves 4 big eaters w left overs (which are great). It's easy and inexpensive. I bring it to work potlucks as well. Definite family favorite.
