Preheat oven to 350°F. Beat all ingredients, except chocolate chips, in large bowl with electric mixer on low speed just to moisten. Beat on medium speed 2 minutes.
Stir in chocolate chips. Pour into greased and floured 12-cup Bundt pan.
Bake 50 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Invert cake onto wire rack. Cool completely. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar or drizzle with Vanilla Butter Glaze (recipe follows), if desired.

The 1st time I tried this cake - many years ago, I thought 'UGH !' Hubby tried it and thought it was awesome. Brother tried it, loved it. It is a very unique tasting cake due to 1 tbsp. of vanilla. Very moist and full of flavor!

Rich, moist, and delicious! There wasn't a crumb left. Kids and adults enjoyed this super cake!!!

The absolute best cake & I prefer chocolate over vanilla. This cake would be great even without the chips. I recommend using the French vanilla cake mix, the house smells like heaven while it bakes. Very hard to not eat it all at once.

This was OK but I would not make it again. It still tasted like a boxed cake mix despite the addition of pure vanilla. I ended up serving it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and homemade chocolate sauce, which concealed some of the artificial taste. I used a top name brand cake mix, too. Would not recommend. Not worth the calories.

Made this recipe but did cupcakes..I Baked them for 25 min, they were golden brown, looked great and when tested with a toothpick came out clean.. Done!! Not!! a few minutes after I took them out they totally sunk in!! I have to say they smelled wonderful.. I am so upset I had to throw them all in the garbage..I could not have cooked them any longer or they would have burned.. I have been baking for 40 years what did I do wrong!!!

Our Test Kitchens weighed in on your question, Gloria. They went ahead and followed our Vanilla Rich Chip Cake recipe, but made cupcakes which they baked for 25 minutes like you did. They said they weren't domed, but the resulting cupcakes were set all the way through. They are not sure why yours came out so poorly. Sorry!

Do not make this cake. It has too much liquid and made a very heavy and extremely moist cake. It was not palatable!
