For the Crispy Shallots, mix shallots and oil in medium microwave-safe bowl. Microwave 5 minutes at full power. Stir. Microwave on 50% power for 2 minutes longer, stirring every 30 seconds, until light golden brown. Repeat for 1 to 2 minutes longer on 50% power, stirring frequently until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove shallots from oil and transfer to paper towel-lined plate to drain. Set aside until ready to serve.
-
For the Green Beans, bring large pot of water to boil on medium-high heat. Add green beans. Cook, uncovered, 5 minutes or until tender crisp. Drain immediately and rinse with cold water. Pat dry with paper towels. Set aside.
-
Melt butter in large skillet on medium heat. Cook 4 to 5 minutes, stirring constantly until butter is lightly browned and has a slightly nutty fragrance. Add onion; cook and stir until softened and butter is well browned and no longer foamy, about 2 to 3 minutes. Stir in maple syrup, garlic powder, black pepper, and sea salt.
-
Add green beans, tossing to coat well. Cook and stir 1 minute longer, just until beans are heated through and coated with glaze. Serve topped with crispy shallots, sprinkled with additional sea salt, if desired.
