  1. Place cinnamon sticks, cloves, and star anise in medium heavy bottom saucepan. Toast on medium heat about 2 minutes or until fragrant, stirring occasionally. 

  2. Add wine, sugar and orange to saucepan, stirring to mix well. Bring to gentle simmer on medium heat. Reduce heat to low; simmer, stirring occasionally, 30 minutes. 

  3. Remove from heat. Stir in brandy. Serve warm with freshly grated nutmeg.
