Instructions 

  1. Melt butter in large saucepot or Dutch oven on medium heat. Add onion, shallot and fennel seed; cook and stir 5 minutes or until softened and fragrant. Add stock, clam juice, tomatoes, garlic powder, oregano, sea salt, pepper and bay leaves, stirring to mix. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to medium-low; simmer 20 minutes.
  2. Stir in clams, fish and shrimp. Reduce heat. Cover and simmer 5 minutes or just until clams have opened, fish is opaque and shrimp are pink.
  3. Remove bay leaves before serving. Ladle into soup bowls and serve with crusty Italian bread.
