Picadillo is a mixture of ground beef, tomatoes, bell peppers, and sometimes raisins and olives. It is served with rice or tortillas or used as a filling for empanadas and tacos. Use Zatarain’s® Dirty Rice Mix to make a New Orleans version of picadillo.
Brown ground beef in large skillet on medium-high heat. Drain fat.
Stir in water, Rice Mix, tomatoes, almonds, olives, raisins, oregano and cumin. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 25 minutes or until rice is tender. Remove from heat. Let stand 5 minutes. Sprinkle with cilantro.
