Herbed Crust Cheese Pizza with Fresh Mozzarella

Cheese pizza gets more flavorful and fun with a McCormick® Oregano Herb Grinder! Twist the cap to infuse store-bought pizza dough with fresh-ground oregano. Top your pie with additional oregano to bake the flavor right in. Give the bottle one final twist and serve the finished slice with an aromatic Herb Grinder garnish.

  • Preheat oven to 425°F. Place pizza dough on lightly floured surface. Twist oregano herb grinder over dough. Knead dough until oregano is evenly distributed. Knead in additional twists of oregano until desired amount is reached. Let dough stand at room temperature 20 minutes to 1 hour.

  • Roll or press dough into a 12-inch circle. Place on lightly greased baking sheet or pizza pan. Spread sauce on dough. Top with cheese slices. Twist oregano herb grinder over pizza.

  • Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until cheese is melted and crust is golden brown. Serve with oregano herb grinder.

Test Kitchen Tips:

•Not sure how much Herb Grinder to add?  Try grinding 50 twists (5 teaspoons) Oregano Herb Grinder when kneading the pizza dough and 5 twists (1/2 teaspoon) over the pizza before baking.

•Pizza dough may be purchased from the prepared deli or dairy section of the supermarket. Fresh pizza dough may also be purchased from your local pizzeria. If frozen, thaw dough in refrigerator. 

Substitution Tip: Use 1 (12-inch) prepared pizza crust in place of the fresh pizza dough. Place on baking sheet or pizza pan. Brush top of crust with olive oil. Twist oregano herb grinder over crust. Spread sauce on crust. Top with cheese and additional oregano herb grinder. Bake as directed.
