Your guests will be asking "How did you get the colorful polka dots in the cake?". The secret is to place baked multi-colored cake circle cut-outs in a white cake batter then bake the white cake layers.
2 packages (2-layer size each) white cake mix, divided
1 teaspoon McCormick® Raspberry Extract
20 drops McCormick® Red Food Color , divided
1/4 teaspoon McCormick® Pure Lemon Extract
20 drops McCormick® Green Food Color
1/4 teaspoon McCormick® Pure Orange Extract
20 drops McCormick® Yellow Food Color
2 teaspoons McCormick® Pure Vanilla Extract
1 1/2 cups (3 sticks) butter, softened
1 tablespoon McCormick® Pure Vanilla Extract
6 cups confectioners' sugar, sifted
3 tablespoons milk
Preheat oven to 350°F. For the Cake, prepare 1 package of the cake mix as directed on package. Divide batter evenly among 3 bowls (about 1 1/3 cups batter in each bowl). Stir raspberry extract and 10 drops of the red food color into first bowl. Stir lemon extract and green food color into second bowl. Stir orange extract, yellow food color and remaining 10 drops red food color into third bowl. Pour each color of batter into separate greased 8-inch round cake pans.
Bake 15 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. Cool on wire rack. Cut out circles from each cake with 1-inch round cookie cutter.
Prepare second package of the cake mix as directed on package, stirring in vanilla. Divide batter evenly among 3 greased 8-inch round cake pans. Press assorted colored cake circles into batter in each pan. (Cake circles will be visible.).
Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center of white cake comes out clean. (Cake circles will remain visible.) Cool cakes in pans 10 minutes. Remove from pans; cool completely on wire rack.
Meanwhile, for the Frosting, beat butter and vanilla in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Gradually add confectioners' sugar alternately with milk, beating well after each addition and scraping sides and bottom of bowl frequently. (If frosting is too thick to spread, gradually beat in additional 1 tablespoon milk.) Fill and frost cooled cake with frosting.
For easier measurement, 1/4 teaspoon Food Color = 20 to 25 drops

This one is a tough one for me to review. As an adult I have to put box cakes far away from the top of my list of favorites but my children really liked it and one even asked to make it again for her birthday so...
I did not have, and didn't have time to buy, a 1" cookie cutter so I cut off the bottom of a prescription bottle and it worked well.
As far as placing the dots in step 3, I would probably try to make them more continuous so that when the cake gets cut there are more dots to see.
Cute idea but I will use natural colors to die the food. strawberries to make pink and maybe some blue berries or chocolate circles, but no food coloring!! This is bad for children and I cant see why people keep giving this to children.
