Whipped Vanilla Buttercream Frosting

Enjoy this light and fluffy frosting on your favorite cake or try it on our Easy Vanilla Layer Cake.

  • Beat butter in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Add vanilla; mix well.

  • Gradually beat in confectioners' sugar, beating until well blended after each addition, frequently scraping sides and bottom of bowl. Add milk; beat until light and fluffy. If frosting is too thick to spread, gradually beat in additional milk. Store in refrigerator up to 2 weeks. Rewhip before using.

Cooking tip

Easy Vanilla Frosting: Stir 2 teaspoons McCormick® Pure Vanilla Extract into 1 container (16 ounces) white frosting until well blended.

Flavor Variations:

Ultimate Coconut Frosting: Prepare as directed, using 1 teaspoon McCormick® Coconut Extract in place of the vanilla.

Pink Lemonade Frosting: Prepare as directed, using 1 teaspoon McCormick® Pure Lemon Extract in place of the vanilla. Add 6 drops McCormick® Red Food Color with the milk.

Macchiato Frosting: Prepare as directed, using 3 teaspoons McCormick® Pure Coffee Extract in place of the vanilla.

Orange Cream Frosting: Prepare as directed, using 1 teaspoon McCormick® Orange Extract in place of the vanilla. Add 12 drops McCormick® Yellow Food Color and 4 drops McCormick® Red Food Color with the milk.
