  • Chicken and Waffles
  • 1 1/4 cups White Lily® Enriched Bleached Self-Rising Flour substitution Substitutions available
    • White Lily® Unbleached Self-Rising Flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 large eggs, separated
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • breaded chicken strips, prepared according to package instructions
  • Gravy
  • 1 package White Lily® Sausage Country Gravy Mix
  • 2 cups water
  • McCormick® Parsley Flakes

INSTRUCTIONS

  • 1 For the waffles, mix flour and baking soda in medium bowl; set aside. Beat egg whites in small bowl with electric mixer until stiff peaks form. Mix egg yolks, butter and buttermilk in separate medium bowl until blended. Stir egg yolk mixture into flour mixture. Fold in egg whites, just until blended.
  • 2 Pour batter into preheated waffle iron sprayed lightly with no stick cooking spray (about 1/3 cup per waffle). Cook until no longer steaming. Open waffle iron and loosen waffle with fork. Set aside. Keep warm.
  • 3 Meanwhile, prepare Gravy as directed on package. Keep warm until ready to serve.
  • 4 To serve, place one chicken strip on top of each waffle. Spoon Gravy over top of Chicken and Waffles. Sprinkle evenly with parsley. Serve hot.

    Test Kitchen Tip: For creamier gravy, substitute milk in place of the water.
