In a medium saucepan, stir together water, tomato paste, molasses, corn syrup, vinegar, honey, whiskey (or bourbon) (if desired), Worcestershire, paprika, garlic salt, liquid smoke, hot sauce, chili powder, cayenne and onion powder. Bring to a boil; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, for about 45 minutes or until sauce reaches desired consistency, stirring occasionally.
Brush the sauce over beef, pork or poultry during the last 10 minutes of grilling. If desired, reheat and serve additional sauce on the side.
