In a medium saucepan combine the first six ingredients (through vanilla). Bring to boiling; remove from heat. Cover and let stand 30 minutes. Transfer to a food processor or blender; cover and process or blend until nearly smooth. Transfer to a large bowl.
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease bottom and 1/2 inch up sides of an 8x4-inch loaf pan. In a medium bowl combine the next seven ingredients (through cloves). Stir flour mixture into dried plum mixture. Fold in the remaining ingredients. Spread batter into prepared loaf pan.
Bake 1 hour or until a toothpick comes out clean, covering loosely with foil the last 20 minutes to prevent overbrowning. Cool in pan on a wire rack 10 minutes. Remove; cool completely on wire rack. Wrap and store overnight before slicing.
