(3-1/2 cups (20 1/4 cup servings))
Combine cornstarch and milk in a medium saucepan; add corn syrup and margarine (or butter). Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened and bubbly. Cook and stir 2 minutes more. Remove from heat. Stir in brown sugar and vanilla. Cool slightly, about 5 to 10 minutes. Just before serving, stir in nuts.
Serve warm over ice cream or pound cake.
