For a gas or charcoal grill, place cucumbers and jalapeño on the rack of a grill directly over medium heat. Cover and grill 6 to 8 minutes for the cucumber and 3 to 4 minutes for the jalapeno or until just lightly charred, turning once.
When cool enough to handle, chop cucumbers and jalapeño. In a medium bowl, combine cucumber, jalapeño, tomato, green onions, cilantro, lime peel, lime juice, garlic, cumin and salt. Serve with pork, poultry, fish or shellfish.
