Lightly grease a 15x10x1-inch baking pan; line with a single layer of flatbread crackers. In a small saucepan, combine crushed graham crackers, brown sugar, butter and half-and-half. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to medium. Cook and stir for 7 minutes. Stir in vanilla. Quickly pour over crackers, spreading evenly. Let stand about 30 minutes or until set.
In a small saucepan, melt chocolate chips and shortening over low heat, stirring until smooth. Spread evenly over graham cracker layer. Sprinkle with nuts and toffee pieces. Let stand or chill about 1 hour or until set. Cut or break toffee into pieces.
