In a large saucepan, sauté bacon over medium-high heat for about 3 minutes or until crisp. Add onion and sauté for 3 minutes more. Stir in garlic; sauté for 1 minute more.
Increase heat to high; add broth and bring to a boil. Stir in tortellini. Return to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, according to package directions, adding the spinach for the last 3 minutes of cooking.
Season to taste with pepper. If desired, garnish each serving with Parmesan.
