  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 pounds beef chuck roast, cut into 1-inch chunks
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 1 cup Kitchen Basics® Original Beef Stock
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons McCormick Gourmet™ Italian Seasoning
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 325°F. Heat oil in a large Dutch oven or ovenproof saucepan. Brown beef on all sides, cooking in batches. Remove with slotted spoon and set aside.

  • Reduce heat to medium. Add onion and garlic; cook and stir until tender, about 5 minutes. Add red wine, stirring to loosen browned bits. Return beef to Dutch oven and add remaining ingredients. Cover and transfer Dutch oven to oven.

  • Braise 2 hours or until beef is tender. Remove beef from Dutch oven, shred, and return to sauce. Serve over hot cooked pasta.
