Fried Green Tomatoes

In just 10 minutes, you too can cook traditional fried green tomatoes. Sliced firm green tomatoes, dipped in egg and coated with Zatarain’s Crispy Southern Fish Fri and fried until golden – a party appetizer delight. Serve with remoulade for just the right look.

  • Pour oil into deep heavy skillet, filling no more than 1/3 full. Heat on medium-high heat to 350°F

  • Beat eggs and water in shallow bowl. Place Fish-Fri in shallow dish. Dip tomato slices in egg mixture. Coat in Fish-Fri, pressing lightly; shake off excess

  • Fry tomato slices in batches, 2 to 3 minutes or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Season with salt, if desired.

Cooking tip

Test Kitchen Tip: Make sure oil returns to 350°F before frying additional batches of tomato slices.

Serving Suggestion: Serve with remoulade sauce, if desired.
