Zatarain's® Original Jambalaya

Jambalaya is the quintessential New Orleans dish. Start with Zatarain’s Jambalaya Mix to keep prep easy. Make it your own in less than 30 minutes by adding any combo of smoked sausage, chicken, pork, ham and shrimp. Feeding a crowd for Mardi Gras or tailgate parties? Double the batch, as hungry mouths always want more!

  • Mix water, Rice Mix and meat of your choice in large saucepan until well blended. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 25 minutes or until most of the water is absorbed and rice is tender

  • Remove from heat. Let stand 5 minutes. Fluff with fork before serving.

Cooking tip

For richer flavor: Add 1 tablespoon vegetable oil with the water.

If using shrimp:  Add shrimp during the last 10 minutes of cooking time and cook just until shrimp turn pink.

Kitchen Tip:  Feeding a crowd? You can easily double this recipe.  Add 2 packages of Zatarain’s Jambalaya Mix and double the remaining ingredients.  Prepare as directed above.
