Amiyrah’s Date Night on a Budget

Crusted Salmon with Pea Puree - Look for frozen salmon steaks in the freezer section. These tend to be less expensive than the fresh servings.

Ingredients: Salmon steaks, Lawry's Zesty Seafood Marinade, one bag of frozen peas, white rice, breadcrumbs, olive oil and Lawry's Seasoned Salt.

Directions: Marinate thawed salmon in Lawry’s Zesty Seafood Marinade, warm up your peas and make a side of rice. Mix together breadcrumbs, add Lawry’s Seasoned Salt and olive oil for your crust topping. Bake salmon for 6 minutes, then add topping, then bake for another 4 to 6 minutes. Puree your peas, place cooked salmon on top, and serve with rice.

Pasta Pasta

Garlic Pasta and Chickpeas

One of the best things about eating in, and with the one you love, is that you can load up on the garlic! This pasta is perfect for vegetarians.

Ingredients: Lawry’s Herb & Garlic Marinade, Canned chickpeas, linguine, fresh spinach and one head of fresh garlic.

Directions: Sauté the chickpeas in 2 tablespoons Lawry’s Herb & Garlic Marinade, then add a handful or two of spinach. Add minced garlic and toss in cooked pasta. Total for this meal is only $6. Bonus? There will be leftovers.

Fish Fish

Lemon Pepper Fish in Parchment

One of the simplest and cheapest meals to make. This recipe cooks the fish and thinly sliced potatoes all in one packet. The presentation on date night will easily make your honey gasp with delight.

Ingredients: Tilapia, Lawry's Lemon Pepper Marinade, small potatoes, tilapia filets and parchment paper.

Directions: Use tilapia to keep costs down, and add Lawry’s Lemon Pepper Marinade to the packet before cooking. Put the potatoes on the bottom, layer the filets on top, and crimp paper to close. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes. Garnish with sliced lemon and a side salad. This meal will only set you back $5 with your lemon garnish!

Egg Egg

Fried Egg with Lentils and Potatoes

Sometimes the most amazing meals contain the most inexpensive ingredients. This recipe nods to French cuisine without the fancy French restaurant. Lentils, or any bean, are elegant yet thrifty.

Ingredients: Eggs, packaged lentils, Lawry's Garlic Salt, small potatoes, Lawry's Herb and Garlic Marinade.

Directions: Make your lentils according to the package and use Lawry’s Garlic Salt as a seasoning. Then sauté chopped potatoes in a skillet, and add a tablespoon of Lawry’s Herb & Garlic Marinade to enhance flavor. Place lentils and potatoes on your plate (or in a bowl) and top with a perfectly fried egg. This $3 meal will blow your mind and not break the bank.

Grilled Steak with Peel and Eat Shrimp

To save money, look for good cuts of steak that are thinner than their expensive counterparts. A thin Porterhouse steak will be a fraction of the cost of its thicker friends, and will cook up in no time.

Ingredients: Two filets of Porterhouse steak (approx 1 1/2 lbs), Lawry's Zesty Seafood Marinade, 1/2 pound peeled and deveined shrimp.

Directions: Marinate your steak in Lawry’s Steak & Chop Marinade, and place your shrimp in Lawry’s Zesty Seafood Marinade. Grill each side of your steak on your stovetop, then place in a 400 degree oven. Put shrimp in the oven as well, and let them both bake for about 7 minutes. Serve with a side salad and enjoy your romantic meal for less than $20.
