Homemade Tomato Sauce

  • Heat oil in large saucepan or Dutch oven on medium heat. Add onion and garlic; cook and stir 3 minutes or until tender.

  • Stir in remaining ingredients. Bring to boil. Cover and reduce heat to low; simmer 30 to 45 minutes or just until tomatoes begin to break down, stirring occasionally. For a chunky tomato sauce, serve as is. For a smooth tomato sauce, puree sauce directly in saucepan using an immersion blender or puree in a blender.
