Super Health with Dr. Wendy
Wendy Bazilian, DrPH, MA, RD
I truly believe in the power of food. That's why I wanted to write The SuperFoodsRx Diet based on the SuperFoods first introduced by Dr. Pratt. Additionally, I’ve been partnering with McCormick to share information, tips and recipes on how to boost your health with antioxidant-rich spices. I’ve been interviewed dozens of times about this subject and people continue to be amazed at the potential health benefits of the “super spices.” It fits the philosophy I use with the clients I work with - the bonus of plus instead of minus.
Regularly incorporating healthy SuperFoods and flavorful seasonings that are easy, practical and nutritious shifts the focus toward adding rather than subtracting when it comes to great health. And these simple shifts—I like to think of them as super swaps—include adding in antioxidant-rich foods and flavors to replace ingredients we know we need to be watching like sugar, salt and fats. Making simple shifts is empowering—and it’s delicious, too.
That's the beauty of herbs and spices, which are a vital part of the SuperFoods diet and lifestyle. Adding more spices and herbs to foods is an easy step you can take to a healthier diet – and potentially enhance your overall health.
Keep your kitchen stocked with an array of spices and herbs (especially those that taste amazing and may promote health like the seven Super Spices) and consider new ways to incorporate them throughout the day. I believe that everyday food preparation should be easy, nutritious and tasty.
I invite you to explore this spice page and find new “favorite” recipes and discover easy and delicious tips to incorporate more flavor and nutrition in your day! Be sure to check out more of my media interviews below as well to spice up your day with some great health information.
Bazilians of healthy, flavorful wishes for 2010,
