You Will Need
1 package McCormick Bag 'n Season® Swiss Steak
1 1/2 pounds round steak (1/2 to 3/4-inch thick)
1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
1 cup water
2 tablespoons flour
PREHEAT oven to 350°F. Arrange opened Cooking Bag in 13x9-inch baking pan or dish. Cut steak into serving-size pieces. Sprinkle Seasoning Mix evenly on both sides of meat. Pierce steak with a fork. Let stand 5 minutes. Place in single layer in Bag.
MIX tomato sauce, water and flour with whisk until smooth. Pour over steak. Close Bag loosely with nylon tie. Cut 4 small holes in top of Bag to allow steam to escape.
BAKE in lower half of oven 45 minutes. Remove from oven. Let stand 5 minutes. Cut open Bag. Stir sauce and serve with steak.
Makes 6 servings.
IMPORTANT: Allow 8 inches for Bag to expand while cooking. Cooking Bag should not touch oven walls or racks.
USAGE
Variation: Prepare meat as directed. Use 1 can (14 1/2 ounces) stewed tomatoes, 1/2 cup water and 1/2 teaspoon sugar in place of tomato sauce and water. Stir in 2 tbsp. flour with whisk until smooth. Pour over meat. Continue as directed.
